I want to get the exact permissions of level 6 in 1.5 with the new role scheme in wp2. The "editor" role is close but has some annoying problems, in particular I want to restrict editor to only editing pages owned by them and I dont want them to create new pages or edit categories. Is there a way to customise the roles in wp 2 ?

You have two options, one is select Author role.
Alternatively, use the Role Manager Plugin
