[resolved] How to Get Credit from Google for Blog Comments? (6 posts)

I want to increase links back to my blog by commenting in others' blogs.

I'm concerned about the Google Page Rank of the pages where I comment.

Sites with high Page Rank for the home page and posts often show no Page Rank for the pages where comments appear.

I just want to make sure that if I comment in a high ranking blog, I'll get "credit" from Google. I need to know that the lack of Page Rank on the page where comments appear doesn't make a difference.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Generally no, you don't get SEO credit, because people consider that spamming.

I'm no spammer. I'm trying to build a serious, legitimate business. Any comments I make on others' blogs will be constructive and add value. They'll link back to relevant articles on my blog. I understand the spam problem, but let's not throw out the baby with the bath water.

Normally you won't get any SEO benefits because most WordPress blogs add "rel=nofollow" to comment links (and rightly so). And I don't think Google assigns much value to comment or forum links these days, even if they don't have nofollow on them.

If not comment or forum links, then what?

  6. I didn't say YOU were a spammer, I said people view THAT (increasing link backs via comments) as spamming.

Make a good site. Make it worth visiting. Ask RELATED sites to review your site (link back from articles on their site) and establish relationships.
