How to get alt tags on slider omages

I wanted to have the capability of adding Alt Tags to my slider images using WP-Cycle plugin which I have updated to the latest version 0.1.12.
I used the code edits suggested in a previous thread (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/alt-text-for-wp-cycle?replies=8) and successfully see the input fields for alt tags in the Wp-Cycle plugin options.
However when I try and updated an alt tag I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function esc_textarea() in /home/content/25/7731025/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-cycle/wp-cycle.php on line 399

The website I am trying to implement this change on is http://www.greystoneequipment.com/ and I am using wp-cycle on the home page itself.
