   Hello!

   My new client hasn't updated his WP since 2006! Can anybody tell me whether there's a way to export comments/posts from this version?

   We're moving servers, so I'd like to just install the new WP and import the data.

   Advice? Thanks!

   You have to update the old WordPress first. The old database is not compatible with newer versions of WordPress.

   Bummer! I was hoping for an easier answer. Oh well... thanks for the advice. I'll get to work!

   Though I prefer iridiax's solution--just backup the database, import via phpMyAdmin on new host, then do upgrade. Note some have reported 'better' success by upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1, 2.1 to 2.3, 2.3 to 2.5 and 2.5 to 2.8.
