How to exclude asides posts as post entries?

I setup asides using Podz’s instructions and so far it’s great, but whenever I make a aside entry it counts as a post. In the settings I have it set at 10 posts per page, so when I have 10 asides links, the page is now just 10 links. Is there a way to make it so that the posts in the asides category aren’t counted as posts when the 10 most recent posts are displayed on the front page?
