[resolved] How to embed video in a post/page that I have uploaded to my media library? (7 posts)

Sorry to ask a simple question that I fail to find an answer to. Is there a way to embed a video in a post/page that I have uploaded to my media library?

I am not interested in linking to youtube or other hosting platforms, just to my very own video clips. All I seem to be able to do is to post a click-able link in my post which will take the viewer to a separate page where the video will then load and play.

Instead, I would like to embed it directly in the post, ideally be able to choose the poster frame and make that clickable.

Is it a theme related issue? Right now I am experimenting with the Oxygen theme.

    Thanks for any input,
    Lutz

If you want to use flash this link http://www.osmf.org/configurator/fmp/ is where you can build a script.

If you don't want to use Flash you can install this player on your site. http://www.longtailvideo.com/jw-player/about/

    Thanks kmessinger,

But I was actually hoping for a simpler solution than having to build a script or to install a player that comes with a watermark unless I pay for it to go away (and which requires me to embed code in the "<head> of your HTML page" - where would I find the <head> in the WordPress editor interface...?).

I was looking for either a theme or just the correct tag which would embed my uploaded media library videos.

    Which are my remaining options?

There aren't any if you want to host your own videos. The choices are either:
    - build your own player
    - install a player plugin.

So, any suggestion on how to install a player plugin? Is there one that you could recommend? Where would I find the <head> of an HTML page in WordPress?

    Thanks.

Thanks, esmi. I went for the most popular choice, the Spider Video Player. And after a bit of tinkering it seems to be working well now.

    Cheers.
