• I would like to embed external posts in my blog in the way it works on social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn or Google+.

The idea is just to put in the link and get the thumb-picture (if there is one) and the text description or the first fw line of the text as an output.

Do you have any ideas how to achieve this? Mybe there is a plugin for that (which I did not find so far)?

    Thanks for your help

  • The most common way of doing this is by using the RSS feed of the other site and importing that into your site somehow. There’s a lot of plugins that can do this so do a search and see if there’s something that suits your own ideas.

RSS won’t help because I only would like to embed one artice and not the whole stream

Then you’ll need to build a system to do one of two things:

    1. Store the details of the RSS feed and allow you to choose which article that you want to add
    2. Strip the content from the remote site and add it to your own site

You could always just do a cut-and-paste of their articles HTML code into your own site. But… Remember that who ever has written the article owns it’s copyright, so you can’t reproduce it without their permission. Not saying that you are, just in case. 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try it out.

Of course I do respect copyrights. I do not want to embed the whole article, but just to teaser it like in an excerpt feed
