Hi there.
I'm asking a very common qquestion. How to edit a wordpress theme.
I do not mean CSS's. I mean the whole layout. I've seen some sites that turn the default theme into a miracle....... but how ?
I used dreamweaver for simple edits for my web pages before, and as I can see, using dreamweaver for wordpress is an overly complex action.
Then what software do I have to use ?
Thank you.
if you want to edit them on your computer you actually want to use a basic editor like notepad so as not to add extraneous junk like office, word and dreamweaver do.
If you want you can edit them from wordpress' admin interface
admin - appearance - editor
as always - make back ups 1st.
note - the default theme is certainly not an easy one to modify.
For tips on editing the default theme, see the following videos.

Thank you I'm checking these right now.
@samboll - you mean a text-based editing ?
I'm not used to it.
More, I'm looking for a WYSIWYG type of editing.... possible ?

not for modifying theme files
take a look at some of the files and you will see there is really no way a wysiwyg editor can help you and will only mess things up

Ok but what about the general layout at least ? the divs, the APdivs, etc ?
Like... I want to edit the whole look of a theme, of even create anoher from the very beginning.... then how will I approach this...... in notepad . ?
you are misunderstanding how the themes work
there is not one big template you can load and adjust
there are many individual files to work with
