Post your question in the widget’s support site.
how the widget title is or can be formatted partly depends on the way your theme is using ‘register_sidebar()’ http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_sidebar
– what theme are you working with?
I Must say I’m surprised and thanks for the responses!
I’ve taken a look at both replies, The Grey Parrots solution doesn’t do anything but change the category base name. It doesn’t allow styling or anything else – but thanks for trying anyway.
Alchymyth’s answer is too technical for me. I’m OK with HTML, and can manage with CSS. But coder I ain’t, and wading thru PHP (or any scripting/programming code) give me the willies!
WordPress is a great platform but what is needed is a quick and easy way to get rid of ALL unwanted blog properties so that the average person can manipulate the WordPress platform. As it is doing the simplest thing is a major headache if, like me you hate code and looking at it gives you a migraine.
Because of this I’m trying a different tack. I know there is a plugin that removes the sidebar and I’ve found a plugin and some alternative simple instructions to remove page titles (again, as ugly as sin).
The next move is to use tables and short code to achieve the effect I want. I was hoping that there might be an alternative way to link from a page to individual categories, but knowing WordPress I very much doubt it.
Once again, thanks for trying – I really appreciate it.
Post the url of a page showing the word categories.
