I have been trying to edit the welcome text on my static homepage. I just inherited the site which has been years in existence. The text is not even true anymore. Please help.

Is the test on the WP Page or is hat page blank? I had the same experience and found static pages that were hard coded rather than going through the editor. Did you look at the Text tab on the page?

I think it is hard coded. I have checked everywhere and can't find anything anywhere.

Can you post the site URL so we can check it out?

It looks like the welcome message is in a widget, did you look there?

If you pull up the message using Firebug, it tells you it's a Widget. Firebug is a great tool to figure these things out.
