   Hello..... I have added the Meta widget to my footer but am having a hard time trying to figure out how to edit it..... for one thing I don't want the "Meta" text displayed.

   But I'm guessing all this is pretty much hardcoded & if I want to customize the output I pretty much have to add my own code there instead?

   or if you don't like the bevahiour of standard meta widget, you can try customized ones from plugins directory, for example: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/customize-meta-widget/.
