How to downgrade without "upgrading database"??? (4 posts)

2.9.1 doesn't allow me to switch from visual to html post editing. I've tried disabling all plugins, and clearing the brower cache, and it still doesn't work. Other blogs I haven't upgraded from 2.8.5 work perfectly.

So I downgraded the problem Blog to 2.8.5 (replacing everything but config.php and Content folder with 2.8.5 files), and it insisted on "upgrading the database" or something like that, which reinstalls the problem!!!!

So, how to downgrade the database so it works the same as my other blogs which haven't been upgraded from 2.8.5 at all? I've got WP-DBmanager installed and tried optimising and repairing, but that doesn't help.

Set db_version in wp_options table back to 11548.

But have you tried deactivating all plugins? Also review http://azaozz.wordpress.com/2008/12/11/troubleshooting-tinymce-in-wordpress-27/

    thanks for your reply . . .

Yes, the db_version is already 11548 in both wp_options and also in Version.

Yes, I tried deactivating all the plugins. Yes, I've cleared the browser cache.

    Neither of these options works.

The problem is still the same . . . the blog which is still on 2.8.5 (which I never upgraded to 2.9.1) switches to html editing, the blog where I upgraded to 2.9.1 then downgraded back to 2.8.5 doesn't switch to html editing. They are both on the same hosting account.

Is it possible to send an html post by posting via email? I wonder if that'd be a way around the problem?

    Any other suggestions?

Can't answer that via email question, and can only suggest reviewing what azaozz is saying in that link above.
