Events Manager
[resolved] How to do recurring events for films showing over three days with diff. times? (7 posts)

    Hi,

I'm trying to set up a way for someone to input films that will run over, let's say three days. Each of the days, the theater is showing the film at different times. So like on Monday, the film shows three times. On Tuesday it shows twice, the third day it shows four times.

What's the best way to handle this type of recurrence within the GUI and presentation? It almost sounds like I need to program a customization into the recurring event form. Or am I over complicating it?

    Thanks!

instead of recurring event, have you tried to just duplicate the 1st event and then edit? or for multiple times you can try to use custom event attribute - http://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/event-attributes/

You could then group the set of events using a tag or a category, and you could even show it on a page using shortcode e.g.

    Viewings of film X

    [events_list category="film-x"]

Thanks angelo. I have not duplicated it. I'll go back and see where in the Event Manager GUI I can do that. I hit a point of frustration when I was trying to create an event that recurred over a three day period. But I was only able to list one start time for the three day run. When I looked at it in the database, it seemed like, essentially, the event had just seperate rows for the the same event with different dates.

Thanks Marcus. I've also been playing around with shortcodes. So I can have an event name or film name as a category? I haven't done that yet....

That's cool. I'm going to play around with it. Just took another look at the database and I haven't been using the category field as I wanted to keep my tag structure fairly flat. But it totally frees up that field for a select now. Thanks!
