How to display post excerpts in Sidebar

I’m using wordpress as a CMS to create a small business site that non-technical users can change as needed. The site will be made up entirely of WP Pages and doesn’t need a blog.

There will be “news” posts that may be lengthy. I would like to display the titles and small excerpts from these news post articles in the sidebar on a few pages. I tried Asides, but it doesn’t really achieve what I wanted. Is there a way to do this so the non-technical users can easily add news postings and have them appear in the sidebar?
