How to display different categories on different parts of the page? (2 posts)

    I've recently installed WP and have been trying to set up the page design that I previously had on Blogger. What I want is to have all the posts in the General category displayed in the main content area, and all the posts in the Photolog category displayed in the sidebar. Before, I just had a seperate blog for my photolog and used a PHP include to stick the second blog into the sidebar.

    Is there a way in WP to have both my General and Photolog posts in the same blog, but display the different categories in different places? It seems like it should be possible to do something like:
    <?php the_content("1"); ?>
    where 1 is the post category that you want displayed, but I couldn't find anything like this in the Reference Docs.

    Apologies if there's already been a topic about this, but I searched for a while and the closest thing I could find was how to limit the categories displayed on the front page.

    Thanks for the help.
