How to direct new Domain name to the blog? (3 posts)

I've just bought the domain name http://www.indiblog.com

My original blog is located in a convoluted address at http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~sr352/wordpress, and since it is that long, I bought this new name and have set up the forward which works well.

However, I now want all the links that wordpress generates internally to say indiblog.com instead of the really long URL. I tried changing the WordPress URI and Blog URI in the Admin to http://www.indiblog.com - but that serves me the blog without CSS or the links don't work! If I revert it back to the long name, then it works fine.

Now, how do I change the settings so that URLs within the blog point to my new domain name, and not to the hosted server domain.

    Please help!!

Just forwarding the domain won't work, does your host allow you to associate a domain with your account? If so then your host should set that up and provide you with some nameservers that you can associate with the domain you bought so everything gets to the right place.

However you would need to move your files out of the worddpress sub-directory up a level to your root directory otherwise your URL would be http://www.indiblog.com/wordpress for info on that please check:

Yeah, jason - you are right! Thanks so much for telling me this. I changed the DNS settings of my domain agent, informed my webhost, and voila! Now, the change in the Admin section to the domain name works sweetly.
