How to direct GoDaddy purchased domain to WP in DNS

Yesterday I signed up with HostGator AFTER buying my domain through GoDaddy. I then installed WP on HostGator using Fantastico (took that step today).
When I try to login to the wp-admin of my new domain (per email invitation), it takes me to the GoDaddy InstantPage (tools for building a site) rather than to WordPress.org.
Is this issue that not enough time has elapsed (am I being impatient?) or is the real issue that I still need to plug something into the DNS Control by entering nameservers?
If the latter is the issue, I will need someone to instruct me in the most elementary means possible… step by step. I have no clue what to plug in or how to find it.
