    Greetings,
    I am new to wordpress and have been following directions and support diligently. I have a website hosted through Bluehost and I have downloaded a theme as I work in the dashboard. I would like to delete the META and ARCHIVE section on the page. I have read about changing the code in PHP files but I have not found clear direction on how to do this. can you assist? Thank you in advance.

    you should edit the theme file for your page(page.php, single.php or page-loop.php, archive.php decided by your theme structure.) I don't see your theme code, so can't tell what code you should remove. For meta, it should be the_meta() or similar functions.

  3. Meta and Archive links can be either hardcoded in sidebar.php, depending on your theme, or in a widget thatc an be removed, or in a conditional that will "disappear" the meta and archive links when you add any other widget.

    Thank you both - I am using the C panel so I believe I need to go to appearance then editor and make the changes in the Twenty Ten: Stylesheet (style.css) correct? Thanks again!!!!

    Just saw you mean remove/delete Meta and Archive on sidebar... Methods:

    1. If you add a widget to the primary widget area via themes->widgets, the meta and archives widget will be removed automatically.

    2. If you don't want to add any widgets, you can edit the file sidebar.php and remove the `<li id="archives" class="widget-container">
    <h3 class="widget-title"><?php _e( 'Archives', 'twentyten' ); ?></h3>
    <ul>
    <?php wp_get_archives( 'type=monthly' ); ?>
    </ul>
    </li>

    <li id="meta" class="widget-container">
    <h3 class="widget-title"><?php _e( 'Meta', 'twentyten' ); ?></h3>
    <ul>
    <?php wp_register(); ?>
    <li><?php wp_loginout(); ?></li>
    <?php wp_meta(); ?>
    </ul>
    </li>`

    Hope helps.

    Don't edit the code. If you do it will be overwritten at the next upgrade.

    #1 was correct - add another widget. If you want nothing to show add a text widget and put nothing in it.
