WP to Twitter
[resolved] How to debug? WP to Twitter not tweeting (8 posts)

OK, so WP to Twitter was working brilliantly for me for several years. Now, suddenly, it has stopped tweeting.

I can't figure out why. I've fiddled with all the settings, disconnected it from my Twitter account and re-connected it, created a new Twitter application to generate new Oauth tokens, and entered those tokens to re-connect it yet again. No results. I did a test tweet yesterday and it worked -- it's apparently connected correctly.

However, this morning's scheduled post did not generate a tweet.

Problem is, I can't tell what's wrong because I don't have access to error codes of any kind. Is there an error log that saves codes or error messages somewhere?

WP to Twitter reports errors in submitting to Twitter for each post which fails, if it's a problem that occurs in the post to Twitter. If there's a problem at some other level (such as a PHP memory exhaustion, server time out, or another plug-in preventing the post to Twitter), then WP to Twitter won't report those.

You'll find the error reports from WP to Twitter in your post edit screen, in the Custom Twitter post box, which is towards the bottom of your post edit screen by default.

If you need further help, I'd suggest submitting a support request using the built in support form.

    OK, no error messages.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm somehow using this wrong.

The checkbox says "Tweet this post" so it should tweet, right?

And if I don't type anything into the "custom twitter post" field, it should use the template that's shown below that, correct?

Here's what WP to Twitter box looks like before a scheduled post appears. (This is on the post edit screen.)

And here's what the WP to Twitter settings look like after publication. No errors!

OK. But it also doesn't show that the post has been Tweeted - so something is clearly not making it through. Had the post been Tweeted, WP to Twitter would show the text of the last Tweet in that box. You're certainly correct in your assumptions above.

I think I need you to send me a support request via the support form -- I'll respond to it promptly via email.

Please create an independent support request and include details about what your issue it. It is extremely unlikely that your problem is the same as this person's.

Hate to say this but I'm also having issues with this thing no longer sending to Twitter. It was working fine last month and now it just stopped for no apparent reason.

Disregard my last message. It's working now. For some reason it wasn't so I enabled bit.ly and now it works. Weird.
