[resolved] How to customize Meta list in sidebar? (4 posts)

Upon upgrading to version 2.8.5., some of my customizations were lost. Among other things, I had somehow figured out how to customize the list of Meta items in my sidebar (Site Admin, Log In/Out, Entries RSS, Comments RSS, WordPress.org), specifically changing their sequence.

Now I can't remember which file it was where I had made these changes. Does anybody know?

Also, I would like to customize the Error page layout (the one with the white textbox on light green background, where it says "Please provide a valid email address, "Fill all required fields", etc. ) Where is it located? I've been looking around like crazy, but I can't find it.

    Thanks.

    Try looking in sidebar.php.

As for the rest - that really depends on what theme you're using. A link to your site might help,

Thanks for responding. I had checked sidebar.php. Although it does contain some Meta stuff, it appears to be unrelated to the Meta items displayed in my sidebar. I also checked widgets.php and default-widgets.php, but I can't find it there either. I had found it once before, but for the life of me I can't remember where it was.

Regarding the theme I'm using, I designed my own. The error pages, however, seem theme-unrelated to me. It's always the same little white box at the top of the page on a light green background. Although I did figure out how to customize the content of the various error messages, the actual layout of the page must be located in a different file.

My URL is http://blog.cyberquill.com. If you go to any single blog post and hit the "Submit Comment" button without filling all the required fields, you'll be taken to one of the very error pages I am talking about. All I want is to get rid of the border and the green background.

    Thanks :)

Eureka, I found it. The sidebar Meta list is located in default-widgets.php after all. It's just hard to find, as one can't simply use the "Find" function, because, for instance, "Site Admin" and "Log in" aren't referred to as such in the ul list.

As to customizing the error page, the relevant file is install.css located in the admin css folder.
