greetings. You guys can check out my site for reference about what I am talking about: http://www.justinmoonphotography.com

I am very new to the website design deal so I am trying to just use wordpress for now. I downloaded the F8 Lite theme and loaded that up as you can see but I am having trouble creating new links and using the photo gallery. Here are my questions:

    1) The areas where it says "link", how can you edit those? My friend started another wordpress blog for me a while back and it is very easy to use but the wordpress version is an earlier one other than 2.8.3 because I can see the link up top when I got into the admin that says "upgrade to 2.8.3". That one is very easy to use as you can see write, manage ect at the top of the screen but in 2.8.3, I sent about an hour going through everything yesterday trying to make new pages and deleting the "link" ones but could not find how to do it. When I go to the pages link on the left side of the admin page and make new pages, it creates an alternate link that is not viewable on the website even after it is published. Anyone know what is wrong?

    2) I also loaded the photo gallery addon to the site and I can see it in my "media" link on the left side of the page in my admin page. I loaded a bunch of photos and created an album, but nothing shows up on my webpage.

This really depends on what the theme does. So the first place to check might be the theme's /author's home page.

However, lets check a couple of things:
    1. Is this theme known to be compatible with V2.8.3? (if yes...)
    2. Does your admin panel work properly at the moment (eg. the screen options menu's appear when you click on the screen options box at the top of any admin panel page. Not displaying seems to be an indiator of other problems.) If yes...
    3. Check any documentation that came with the theme, or is available from the author's web site. If none...
    4. In most themes those links at the top of the page are are usually to things like the home page, about and admin panel, etc. These are static pages that can be created using the Pages menu of the Admin Panel.
    5. Links are generally listed in the links/blogroll widget(s) and often separated by categories. Links are edited in the Links screen of the Admin Panel and assigned to categories (like blogroll). Categories are also edited/created there.
    6. In the widgets option of the appearance panel in the admin panel you can assign widgets (of which links is one) to a sidebar multiple times and then choose which category(ies) of links will be included in the links list.
    7. If you admin panel is not working properly, some of these things will not seem to be visible. Search the for "widgets drag drop" in this forum for advice on fixing that problem if you have it.

    bishopj,
for your #4, whenever I try to create a new page, nothing shows up after I publish. In the older version I am using on my blog, it would be very crystal clear whenever I create a new page because you can see it right at the top of the page.
