• I have an extensive genealogy and cemetery survey database with thousands of interesting documents and over 150,000 gravestone pictures. Currently, these are in an IBM UniVerse database.

So far, WP has done a fantastic job of keeping the scanned docs neat, accessible and genealogically useful. The few users I’ve allowed to look at the new site are thrilled with the ease of finding what they want.

Ideally, I’d like to import the cemetery records first. Each cemetery should be a post under the Cemeteries category which would work out wonderfully for our setup. The thing is I don’t want to sit down and key 825 (as of today) cemeteries’ worth of posts in. (Each cemetery should be its own post, just like any other post.)

Is there a script/template/HOWTO that will give me an example of how to bulk-“post” directly into the WP database? It’s very easy for me to create SQL scripts from the old database — but I need to know which tables to affect and what fields are required, etc.

This information would be a huge help in transporting everything from the old system into WP.

    Thank you very much!
