How to create a Catalogue/Portfolio with sub-categories and without basket

Hi, I’m doing on WP, a webpage where there must be a Catalogue of different works in different materials, so I need categories and sub-categories.

ITS NOT AN E-COMMERCE, I’ts just like a big gallery with a description.

I’ve try to use this plugins:

Next Gallery
Portfolio
OTW-Portfolio
Catalogue
… and a lot more

And they just work bad or doesn’t work for me.

I’m asking for something simple, a Menu with subcategorys and images divided in pages.

I don’t know anything about coding, so.. I’m asking for a functionally plugin or something easy.

It must be easy, this is seen in many many pages
