How to control and load files into a flv player using data form custom fields? (12 posts)

i have a custom field called embed, there i put a flv file location, such as
    video.com/flvs/video.flv
in the theme file i have

    <embed src="http://video.com/wp6/wp-content/plugins/flv-embed/flvplayer.swf" width="480" height="360" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" flashvars="file=<?php $key="embed"; echo get_post_meta($post->ID, $key, true); ?>" />

so the player loads the flv from the embed custom field section
this works great, it replaces having a plugin and you can have the player wherever you want. a video theme called tv-elements uses this method too.

now the thing is my content is usually in multiple parts, so i was looking around at streaming sites, and tvshack.net
has a part selection, that is probably in ajax, so the whole page does not have to reloaded, i have been looking around of how this could be done, and nothing yet,
    example
    http://tvshack.net/tv_shows/K_Ville/season_1/episode_3/

any ideas guys, tx in advance

    sounds similar to a 'playlist'.

not too sure myself, but maybe that's worth looking into.

    I'd like to know myself.

    Hi Vachi,

Boy, I sure wish I'd known about your method of loading FLVs a while back, I ended up using an external database.

When I asked the ad server networks how they would interact with my site for their video ads, they responded by saying that they would add two FlashVars - one for the ad and one for the click-thru. I suspect that the same method could be used to break a video into parts, I just don't know how to do it. It probably involves some ActionScript in the FLA file.

Not much help, but maybe gives you an idea where to look.

yeah this is a bit different :)
    lets say i have video1.flv video2.flv and video3.flv
this is one long show broken into 3 parts
    the player starts with video1.flv
i need a "playlist" or part selection, for the rest

You can probably tell I'm a novice at this, but since I've just been thru it, I can't help myself.

I'm using the Earth Sciences Agency FLV player, and they have an explanation of how to use an XML list to jump to a specific video:

    Maybe that can be adapted.

tx i am checking it out, but i was thinking more of a simpler aprouch
    example

having the addresses of the videos in custom fields called, video1, video2, video3, and so on
and having some peice of script that would load all the video"x" fields of the post and create links next to the player that would chnage the flashvars field of the embed code
