[resolved] How to copy my site to a a subdirectory (5 posts)

    Hi.

I am making my first homepage: tornaia.com, and now I am trying to make a subdirectory site so I can have an English version of the site: tornaia.com/en. (I tried some plugins to do automatic translation, but I want to be able to correct the Google translate grammar, so I have desided to do it manually instead)

So, now that I have done a lot on my first page, I just wanted to copy it onto my english page as it is. I mean to copy everything: settings, photos, links, style.css, and all the pages and posts.. in that way the english site will look good at least, and then I can translate the pages and posts one at the time.

But how do I do that? How do I copy everything from my site to a subdirectory site? I mean.. I use Filezilla, and I haven't found any file that is for the subdirectory site... (or at least as far as I understand).

    Thank you very much!

    I am using the rumput-hijau-theme.

You use Filezilla now, so make a local path .../en , then (locally still) copy all of ../public_html , and all sub-folders/files to .../en

Then upload using Filezilla, from local path ../en and all files and sub folders to http://tornaia.com/en

It would be easier if you can backup the current site, in (say) CPanel, and then restore to http://tornaia.com/en

  3. Not only will you need to copy all the files but you will also need to connect that subdirectory to a different database.

There are some good plugins for maintaining sites in two languages and these allow you to enter each language and not rely on Google translation.

    Here are a couple:

Thank you both for answering. I checked out the two plugins you sent me, of course this would be much easier than doing everything manually, so I wanted to give it a try. The first one, wpml, is a bit over my budget, but it looks very good. Too bad for me.

I tried to run the second one, babble, but I'm not sure if it works with wordpress 3.5. On their page it says "Tested up to: 3.4.2".. I couldnt get it to work properly anyway. When I click on "edit" to edit a page with this plugin active, I get a message that says

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bbl_get_post_lang_code() in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/babble-master/translation-group-tool.php on line 124

Do you know what to do here? Or do you know any other translator plugins where you can edit their translation? I have tried to find this, but without any luck so far. If I can't find it, I'll do the translation manually. (I am thinking of making a third version as well in Italian, but we'll se how much work it is first)

I just stumbled over this plugin: Transposh translation, and I think it solved all my problems. I have only tried it for 15 minutes, but it seeems great!
