• I am using wordpress for my main website, I plan to install a new theme for support.example.com and configure my main site to use multisite sub-domains. While testing I lost access to a sub-domain I have admin.example.com which is not wordpress. Is it because of the wild card I setup in my DNS record? If so can I simply not use a wild card and point an A record to support.example.com so multisite will work for only the network sites I create, and still allow me to create any other sub-domain virtual host as needed?

You can have both named and wildcard subdomains on your site, IF your DNS and host are properly configured. You may need to force an A name if your site has problems.

I use ’em both all the time.
