I have downloaded and activated the FeedBurner FeedSmith plug-in. Then, the instructions say:

“In the WordPress administration area, begin the configuration by clicking Options and then the FeedBurner FeedSmith sub-option.”

I can’t see anything that says “Options” to click – I’m using WP 2.7.1. “FeedBurner” is a menu choice under “Settings,” but if I click that it asks me to create a FeedBurner feed, which I’ve already done.

You are supposed to enter into the entry field there the Feedburner URL of the feed you created in Feedburner

    Hi stvwlf, thanks for responding.

The problem is, FeedBurner gives me TWO URLs, and doesn’t explain the difference between them.

One URL is http://blog.kirkpetersen.net/feed — that one is labeled: “Original Feed (Feed published on your site)” That’s what my “Subscribe to RSS” link points to now… but clicking that link was giving me and other visitors a page that asked me to install WordPress!!

The other URL Feedburner gives me is http://feeds2.feedburner.com/kirkpetersen/JOLV — that one is labeled “Feed Address (Your FeedBurner feed). I just plugged THAT one into the WP Administration entry field at Settings > Feedburner, and now it seems to work… but am I doing it right? When I mouseover the RSS link on my homepage, it shows me http://blog.kirkpetersen.net/feed as the destination… but when I click it, it redirects to http://feeds2.feedburner.com/kirkpetersen/JOLV.

I realize these are more questions for FeedBurner, but the documentation there is useless and the forum hasn’t responded.

Your new feed address is http://feeds2.feedburner.com/kirkpetersen/JOLV

The purpose of the Feedsmith plugin is to redirect any attempts to access your old on-domain feed over to the Feedburner URL. That is why the plugin needs to know your Feedburner feed URL.

It sounds like you are set up correctly now.

I have been through the steps as kirkpete; the feed is showing up in my feedburner account and containing adsense for feeds ads within that account – however, there are no adsense ads showing on my actual website. Am I missing something on the feedburner end?
