How-to choose a custom fields plugin? (2 posts)

I thought of asking this in my previous message but I realize that it may help others when looking for reasons to choose a plugin over another with similar use.

Why should I use Simple Fields over Advanced Custom Fields or Custom Field Suite (or any other similar plugin, for that matter)?

I mean, how can I decide between them. Is it their weight? The way they handle wp tables? The fields we can use? The UI?

I'm having trouble to decide. I must say the ACF interface is awesome, and it has 20x more downloads. But SF has more free options (which can help me to solve my actual problem before contributing to the plugin future development). Now I got to know a fork of ACF that states using a custom table is better, because it makes the plugin lighter.

If you were not the developer of this plugin, how would you choose? ;)

Though not updated, this may come in handy.
