I am creating a sub-directory install (this was chosen automatically, and I am ok with that) in public_html/folder_name, and the Server Address field is automatically set to http://domain-name.com (this is the root domain on my server; the most important domain or whatever, it is listed in cPanel etc.

I just registered a new domain, http://new-domain.com and I want to assign it as a root domain for this WordPress Multisite installation. Is it possible?

    Thank you.

(I did not press the install button yet, this is the first step after activating the Multisite in wp-config.php)

    Kind of…

You would want to back out any changes you made on your site for Multisite (so delete the .htaccess and wp-config.php changes) and then change your URL in WordPress as a single site. THEN turn on Multisite.

    Otherwise it’s complicated.
