[resolved] How to change position of data displayed by a plugin? (7 posts)

    Hello :)
    I am using a plugin to display author information in a box.
    I have activated the plugin and it works good.

    The problem

    The box added by this plugin on my post pages is appearing above my Post-tags & categories which are listed after the content.

    I checked & tried shifting those tags closer but it does not change.

    Guess, I will have to force the plugin to appear where I want but I don't know how to do it?

    Anyone please?

    plugins often add a filter to 'the_content' to output their results at the end of the post content.

    to display the plugin output somewhere else in the template, you possibly need to find the main function of the plugin and try to add this into the template code.

    do you have a download link for the plugin?

    Thanks for a quick reply alchymyth
    Yeah, I am getting what you said. Tried few things too but without success.

    Could you pls check some more? The plugin link is http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-about-author/

    Should I change plugins behavior from 'the_content' to 'entry_meta'?

    one possiblilty, without editing the plugin code:

    in the templates, where you want to 'move' the author box, (single.php, page.php, index.php ??)
    add this before the loop:

    <?php remove_filter('the_content', 'insert_wp_about_author'); ?>

    and in the location where you want to show the author box (after the post meta data ?) add:

    <?php echo insert_wp_about_author(''); ?>

    Wowww... Thankssssssss
    Yeah, placement works...

    But,
    Removing is not working & hence I see 2 boxes.
    1] Where I dont want
    2] Where I want :)

    Any tip?

    where exactly did you add this line: <?php remove_filter('the_content', 'insert_wp_about_author'); ?> ?

    - it needs to be placed before the line with the_content();

    (it might also depend on what options you have ticked for the plugin)

    can you paste the full code of yout template into a http://pastebin.com/ and post the link to it here (for how-to, see http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Posting_Code )
