Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.
I use a localhost for the moment. I guessed this was a typical question resolved long ago. If I can’t change page order using Dashboard (which sounds strange) I’d like to know what php-file should hack in my Child. Thanks
have you activated the custom menu:
under dashboard – appearance – menus – theme location ?
OK. Now it looks much better, but the default “Home” (first button) disappears. I probably should convert it from post into page, add to my custom menu and set the order again.
you can add any link, i.e. also a new ‘home’ button, with the custom menu – http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_Screen
Thanks a lot. Now it works OK
There is one more problem. In my navigation bar the page order now is OK, but I can’t see nested pages. In Dashboard -> Pages, however, they exist and have the proper Parent (part of my menu). What could be wrong?
Does your current theme support dropdown menus?
Two hours ago everything was OK 🙂 I could see nested pages in my navigation bar, simply the order was strange. After I added some name (‘my menu’) into ‘dashboard – appearance – menus – theme location’, added ‘Home’ to ‘my menu’ and set the proper order, I was not able to see nested pages in my navigation bar any more. Where is the dropdown-option, please?
Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
I’m in Twenty Eleven. All my small Child changes are about fonts, colors, margins etc., not the code itself. I guess, the default menu, in which I was not able to arrange pages, had the dropdown-option. And when I changed it with “my menu”, the dropdown-option somehow switched off.
Sorry. RTFM: ” You can also drag a menu item a little to the right to make it a submenu” Now it works 🙂
