How to Change 'Next Post ID' Counter in Database Tables (4 posts)

I used the mySQL database to modify the latest post ID count from 4 to 3, but the next post ID I published says 5 instead of 4. If I change the 5 to a 4, the next post will say 6, etc. Seems there is a "Counter" value that must be decremented as well. Does anyone know how to fix this in the database tables? I'm using the default permalink option, mydomain.com/?p=3

I'm having a problem with my ID numbers. They are screwing up my rss feed for my podcast, so episodes are appearing in the wrong order (and now new ones aren't at all!).

    Can you please help?
