I have a child site and a network-enabled theme. I want the theme for the child site to differ slightly from the base theme shared with other network members - essentially altering the header logo.
How do I make that change without impacting the same theme on the parent? My first thought is to copy the base theme, then choose that copy for the child site. Is there a best practices for this?

If the theme has theme functions that let you select headers per-site, that's the easiest. Otherwise, you need to make a child theme and manually activate it ONLY for that one site.

I found the easiest route was to create a child theme specifically for that site, activating it only for that site.
