   I'm using the VERYPLAINTXT theme and in the sidebar I would like to change the title of the links widget from BLOGROLL to just LINKS. Any suggestions?

   One way you might try -

   Click links on the left side of your dashboard

   Then click link categories which will appear under the links tab of dashboard.

   Then on the right side of the screen, hover over the blue "blogroll"
   under there it should pop up with "edit | quick edit"

   click edit

   now change
   Link Category name
   and
   Link Category slug

   -----------------
   That might work - depending upon how the code in your template is written.
