    Hello all,

Just wondering if someone can tell me how I can change the author name when I write an article on my blog?

Right now it says "By The GP Golf Report" but I want to say my name.

So does anyone know how I could change it?

    Thank you very much! :)

Here's my site by the way: http://gpgolfreport.com/

Try a search on "WordPress change author name"

You will get plenty of results including where the question has been tackled on this forum

  3. Ooor more helpfully you can reply with:

Try visiting the Users page in your WordPress dashboard.

    http://gpgolfreport.com/wp-admin/users.php

Once there move your mouse over the user icon in that list. An "Edit" link will become visible. Click that link.

Scroll down to Name and fill out the "First Name" and "Last Name". Once you do then click on the drop down labeled "Display name publicly as" and select how you want to display your name.

Save that by clicking the "Update Profile" button on the bottom and you should be good to go.

Thanks Jan but sadly, it still didn't work,

It still says 'By The GP Golf Report". And it turns out my name was already set when I went to the settings.

Would be cool to have it say "By Colin Mieczkowski"

The issue may lie in the fact that:

This theme hasn't been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.

    Thanks PVWDM.

Well, I would hate to change the theme I have therefore maybe I'll add an author bio at the end of each article so people will know who the writer is.

    Thanks again

Well, I would hate to change the theme

At some point, an outdated theme can and will cause even more headaches, even to the point of having your site break or worse, getting hacked due to old insecure methods. It will be best in the long run to begin now to seek an alternative.

Oh OK, well I did download backup themes just in case but I just loved the theme I had for its deep customization and I was able to have a customized background and all as well.

I guess sometimes, you got to do what you got to do,

There are plenty of themes that allow easy addition of a custom background (heck the twenty-xx themes do). That said, it's simple CSS to add a background image to the body.
