How to change a domain name of one of the blogs (6 posts)

I'm on the newest WP version and have multiple domains running. I need to change the domain name of one of the blogs. I tried what seemed like would be the obvious way, but it doesn't work. The new domain name keeps giving me the 404 not found page.

Is there a simple way to change the name, or at least add an additional domain name to a blog?

    Thanks

  2. So for the multiple domains, you're using a domain mapping plugin?

unmap the domain and remap it to the new domain.

I'm using the newest version that has "Domains" under "Super Admin", which is how I create new sites with a unique domain:

So one of my blogs is:

    thisdomain.com

I would like to change it to:

    newdomain.com

or at least add it so that they both will work.

  4. Umap the first domain, map it again with the new one.

It just doesn't seem to take. I removed all mappings to the old domain name under "super admin"/"domains". Then went in "super admin"/"sites" and changed the url under "domain", "url", "home", and "Fileupload Url". Then I went back into "super admin"/"domains" and added the new domain url for that site ID.

I still get error 404 page.

I even tried just creating a new site with the new domain name, and that even gives me the 404 page. I verified that the url is resolving to the correct IP address of my WP installation.

Perhaps I need to edit the database.

  6. You shouldn't have to.

just go create a new site, no new domain name. getting 404's? then it;s your server.
