I would like to give people the option to subscribe to my blog so that they automatically receive an alert when I add a new blog post. I'm using the twenty eleven theme but can't seem to see how to add a subscribe function or RSS icon. I thought it would be in the widgets but doesn't seem to be.
I've tried to find a suitable plug-in but am struggling to find a simple one that does what I need.
Please could you advise how to add an RSS icon (or similar) to my blog - or alternatively recommend a good plug-in to do this.
Many thanks,
Hi JenCat,
You can add the RSS Widget to your sidebar and put in your RSS url in that widget.
You can also try out a plugin like one of these for email subscription:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ajax-quick-subscribe/
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rss-to-email/
Hope this helps!

Hi ChristiNi,
Thanks for your reply. I couldn't work out where to find my RSS url - I tried just adding /feed to the end of my URL but that didn't work.
Anyway - I've downloaded the subscribe2 plugin and all seems to be working well so far.
Thanks again for your help.
Jenny
/feed is your feed url if you have pretty permalinks turned on
Otherwise its /?feed=rss2 (I think)

Hi,
I was searching for the same thing, and founded this interesting article:

It looks like a nice solution.
