Hey, I’m looking for a way to use a static html page as the homepage to my website. Then have links in the footer to my wordpress blog. I’ve looked at possibly by making a “splash page?”

I’ve searched hi and low for answers, but havent found one yet. Please let me know if you have suggestions, Thanks.

  • Create a custom page template for your home page that incorporates the markup that you want to use. Use Admin/Page/Add New to create and publish a new page for the front of your blog using the new custom template.

    Navigate to Admin/Settings/Reading

Under “Front page displays”, check “static page”, choose your new WordPress page from the dropdown and then save your changes.

One thing I do is install WordPress at the /blog directory and then just create a regular html index page for the root domain.

OR, you can install wordpress at the root and then go into your editor (in the Appearance or Design tab – depending on what version of WP you’re using) and edit the main index page template.

There might be a better way to do it, but that’s how I’ve done it.

    Hope that helps…
