    I know that RSS feed can be added to the side, but how to add RSS to a normal page?

    Thanks

    Hey Frank,

    You could still use the RSS widget but have that displayed in a post's or page's content by using the Widgets on Pages plugin.

    Hi toddhalfpenny,

    Many thanks for your quick reply. Apologies for the delayed response as i was away for a few days.

    As I am a absolutely beginner. i have to ask more questions:

    * I have installed the plugin and activated it, how can i use it on a normal wordpress page? For example, if i want to display the bbc rss on my page: http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml. What code is needed on the page 'html' view?

    Thanks very much again

    Frank

    Hey again,

    OK, the steps you need are;

    • Activate the Widgets on Pages plugin - you've done this
    • Add the RSS widget to the Widgets on Pages sidebar. This is done via the Appearance->Widgets options page
    • Add the shortcode for the Widgets on Pages to your page. You don't need to add this in the HTML view. If you haven't renamed the Widgets on Pages sidebar you can just use this shortcode [widgets_on_pages]

    toddhalfpenny,

    Thank you very much, It worked!

    This plugin works much better for a beginner like me :-).

    Can i ask you another question:

    * I have added a search for to search a website (they agreed for me to use and provided the API key for me). But when i preview the page and put a key word to search, it returned a xml file.

    How can I change my code below to display the result in html rather than xml?

    Many thanks again!
    -----------------

    <form action="http://www.tripdatabase.com/search/xml" method="get"><input type="hidden" name="key" value="xxxxx" />
    <input type="text" name="criteria" value="" size="20" />
    <input type="submit" value="Tripdatabase" /></form>

    Looks like you need to get a developer in to do this for you I think.

    Basically you want to get a bespoke search function put in that will parse the response and output the HTML.

    I don't think there's anything off the shelf you could use to do this.
