    Hi

I've read all the forums addressing child themes, and yet none of the seem to be helping or I just don't quite understand.

Very new to wordpress,so bear with me. I want to change copyright credit at the bottom footer. I created a child theme using One Click Child theme, which has two templates or "styles" as it says, which are css and rss.

I know I'm supposed to copy the parent's footer php file on to the child theme, but how do I do this? There is no option on the child theme to "add a template/file". I tried to include it in the css style template but that obviously didn't work. I have literally clicked on every button possible but for some reason I can't locate the child theme's "folder" or file.

I'm at my wits end here. Even considered editing the original parent template, but heard thats a bad idea when theres theme updates.

    PLEASE HELP :(

Sorry, I meant rtl, not rss.

    Thanks

I've never worked with One Click Child theme, but the traditional way that you create a copy of one file (e.g., footer.php) into a child theme's folder is to use an FTP client, like FileZilla. Or, your host probably provides some sort of control panel interface that allows you to login and view the files on your site much like Windows Explorer.

Your parent theme's files would be under:
    /wp-content/themes/sugar-and-spice
Your child theme's files would be (if you used the standard naming conventions):
    /wp-content/themes/sugar-and-spice-child

So you would navigate to the parent theme's folder, locate footer.php, and copy it over to the child theme's folder.

And you are correct, you should not modify your parent theme's files directly.

That all being said, there are other ways of changing the copyright information without editing footer.php. You can install a scripting plugin and add some jQuery code to do it. Let me know if that's an option you would like to try, it's not that difficult. Oh, and please include a link to your site.
