I wrote a brief article on how to add the Drop Caps feature to your posts. You don't need the upgraded CSS template for this to work.

Nice! Just out of idle curiosity, what's "upgraded CSS template"?

Oh - I see, you're talking about the wordpress.com hosted version....

The top half of your caps are cut off in IE7. At least in the browser I'm viewing it from.

    Oooopps! You're right.

I have updated the article so that the "Drop Caps" feature works in both Firefox and/or IE.

    Thanks for the response.

The "upgraded CSS template" is an additional option available under WordPress.org and costs $15 per year. When you log into your site, it's under the "Upgrade" tab. According the WordPress: "This upgrade allows you to add custom CSS to customize any theme on this current blog. This is recommended mostly for advanced users who understand CSS."

I haven't tested it, but I don't think you need this option for the "Drop Caps" feature in my article.
