How to add delay to drop-down menu?

    I’m working on a site with multiple-tiered drop-down menus. Currently, their functionality is a bit choppy because the moment the cursor moves away from the menu items, the entire menu disappears. On some sites I’ve noticed that there’s a split-second delay on mouseout before the menu closes, which makes navigation easier. How would I go about doing this?
