   I'd like to add a link to my main top banner to make it clickable. I want to link it to my site home page, so when visitors click on the banner, they'll be linked to this URL. I'm wondering what code and where exactly should I add it.

   It goes in your header code. There's no generic answer - its different for each theme. If you post a URL someone can help you with the code for your site.

   i already have a code. The question is where exactly should I place it? Where is my header code?

   That also is somewhat dependent on your theme. For most themes it is file header.php
