I want to know where to go to be able to do things like insert code for banner links and such on the side bar of the page as opposed to in the actual post/static page.

Most themes have a sidebar.php that 'control's the sidebar.

The WordPress Default Theme has, for instance wp-content/themes/default/sidebar.php

I played with that with some simple HTML to make a word come up to get a feel for it and it caused my coded word to appear outside of and to the top/left of the side bar. I have some HTML experience but no PHP experience so that is probably the problem. I was hoping that there was a USER FRIENDLY control panel page that I could just choose a position and put in the banner code but I guess not. I'm using the PIXELED theme.
