How much traffic can a wordpress website handle? And what will the requirement be for the site to handle 100k + visitors a day?

Please be a lot more specific.

A site depends on your webhost's hardware and their software environment before it gets to the WP code.

    So:
    - where are you hosted
    - what is your site
    - what are you using now
    - how much do you pay

I have the site with a hosting plan from Godaddy. I'm currently on a deluxe plan that gives unlimited monthly bandwidth. I'm paying 8.99/month for it I believe.

"unlimited". That means 'if you get popular we'll find another way to make you upgrade but we'll use numbers you cannot argue with such as CPU usage'.

Ah I see. So how much should I be paying if I'm to be expecting 30k+ visitors a day?

You'll definitely want a caching solution. Since you're using godaddy, I'd imagine Cloudflare is also a good idea depending on your comfort level with doing things yourself.
