• I know, it depends on gazillions of variables, but it’d still be interesting to hear some anecdotal feedback.

I have between 500-600 posts now. My WP installation runs on a relatively high end dedicated server. Sometimes I wonder if I’m getting close to an upper limit, although there are tons of factors operating that could cause occasional slowdowns.

Anyone using WP with a HUGE number of posts without problems? I’m wondering if I should make an effort to houseclean old posts on occasion to avoid letting the database get too big.

  • I just checked my stats. 2400 posts / 7200 comments
    DB is ~11MB

I know someone with a LOT less posts but with a 60MB+ database. And his db works fine.

You’ve a very very long way to go before you need worry. The database will handle vast quantities of information for companies so us bloggers are safe 🙂

    Fantastic, thanks for the assurance!

Remember that systems around the web run on top of databases with MILLIONS of entries. So, as long as the WP db and queries aren’t totally screwy (some of them aren’t that well organized…), you should be fine for a long while.

Before you run into DB issues, of course, you could use something like WP-Cache 2 in order to relieve the ‘stress’ of constantly building dynamic pages.

I have over 5,000 posts with 20,000 comments. Database it about 400MB. No problems!
