• I’m building a community site using WordPress with the p2 theme. Does anybody have any idea how the speed of the site will be affected if it gets a large number of users (i.e. Authors in WordPress). Will it be OK with 1000? 10,000? Assume I’ll be caching as much as possible.

  • It’s all about how well you cache it and how powerful your server is. From my experience (wp-experts can correct me if I’m wrong), the WP Dashboard doesn’t get cached by any plugins I’m aware of. If there are a few thousand people in the Admin Interface area, it could get slow.

WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache do an excellent job for visitors viewing the actual public pages, but they won’t help much for the back-end if I’m correct.
