how long does it take to copy?

i read everything about copying my site from /blog/ to the root domain.

im using ws_ftp pro and highlighted all the files/folders of the blog and rt clicked and copied. i went to my public_html folder and rt clicked and hit paste.

it’s been copying files for the last 40 minutes and shows a lot longer to go. is this normal or did i do somethign terribly wrong?
