    In creating back up file.
Creating backup directory was done in a short few minutes.
The Backing up files was gong on 10 minutes and still looping, does it take that long or did something not catch?

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

It will probably complete eventually depending on how long your server is set to timeout PHP processes.

If it isn't completing, try to find any themes/plugins that are particularly bulky. Backup Buddy has caused trouble in the past as it stores zips on the server. I've updated the plugin to work around this specific issue but it could be something else with your configuration that is causing the problem.

Everything went really fast until it came to creating the zip file and cleaning up. The wheel was spinning all night and never finished. Not working?

I have a small site. Everything worked fine and quickly up to the Zip file creation step where the process hung. (The progress wheel stopped.) What do you suggest?

    Can you check /wp-content/plugins/wp-backitup/backups/?

Did the plugin create a zip file? What does the zip contain? How large is it?

    Thanks

There are two complete backups in that folder but neither was made into a zip. The folders are not giving me size readings so I don't know the overall size but, as I said, the site is small.

But as far as you can see the backups are complete? Do the directories contain a wp-content dir as well as a database.sql file etc?

Is there a way I can send you a screen grab of the directory?

    Hi Woods,

The process times out after 15 minutes, so it shouldn't take hours.

Did it ever complete? Are aware of any large files on your server in large number?

    Thanks

    Dear Plugin Author,

I have installed the plugin on my site and then hit the backup button

    I am getting following:-

    Status

    Preparing to backup...Done
    Backing-up database...Done
    Backing-up /wp-content/...Done
    Creating backup information file...Done
    Zipping backup directory...Done
    Cleaning up...Done
Backup file created successfully. You can download your backup file using the link above

But there is no link to download the zip file. When I have checked on ftp for zip folder then wp-content/plugins/wp-backitup/backups
folder are empty means plugin not creating the backup of the file.

I am using the WordPress 3.6 version.

I am really appreciate if you can get back me that what is happening there.

I will be waiting for your reply.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Rajeev

I started my first backup today. Everything went quickly until it came to creating the zip file and cleaning up. With Zipping backup directory and Cleaning up it kept spinning for almost a half hour. I tried it twice already.

Here is how it looks in wordpress:
    Status
    Preparing to backup...Done
    Backing-up /wp-content/...Done
    Backing-up database...Done
    Creating backup directory...Done
    Zipping backup directory...
    Cleaning up...

How long should it take to back up?

    Hello teentoolbox,

Can you know me the size of your database. Its depend upon the size of database. And also please do the cross checking on your FTP.

    1. Check the permission of your folders.
    2. Also check the root of your server tha
t backup stored on your server or not. I mean - backup stored in the location under wp-content folder.

Please check and let me know if its works or not. I have personally worked on this plugin and you can also check my comment. If you need more help then PM me at webrndexperts at the rate gmail dot com

    enjoy

    teentoolbox,
We get reports of this happening occasionally and most of the time it is caused by issues with your hosting provider or with the size of the backup. As Rajeev mentioned it could be due to the permissions on your \wp-content\plugins\wp-backitup\backups folder so checkng to make sure that there is a backup folder would be a good first step.

Additionaly, it is always a good idea to make sure that you have uninstalled and deleted any plugins that you aren't using. A large number of plugins will not only make the backup slow, but your site too.

In most cases this issue is resolved by removing unnecessary plugins and and in the case of slow site performance, when the host corrects the issue causing slow performance.

If the issue continues, please send us a support request via the wpbackitup site.

    http://www.wpbackitup.com/support

We will assist you with troubleshooting the issue.

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hello Chris,

Its good to see your reply and as you mentioned that plugin stored the backup under following folder -
    wp-content\plugins\wp-backitup\backups
but when I have worked on this plugin and I have modified the location of backup file and its under
    wp-content\backups
    {as per John Peden instructions}

I think he have changed the backup storage location.

Can you let me know if it has been changed, so I will update the plugin as well code.

I have installed the plugin on 2-3 websites of my client.

I will be waiting for your reply.

    Cheers -:)
