• There is a plugin or a system that will allow an ISP or a portal to provide hosted WordPress blogs to tens of thousands of users. I know it is there but I can find it as it drowns in other wordpress results in Google.

Like what wordpress.com is doing. Hosting thousands of worpress blog accounts. (I am not looking for installations of WordPress using Fantastico e.l. I am looking for hosting one instance of wordpress with thousands of individual blogs in it).

I know it is there, but I can not find it.
If you know what I am looking for please provide link.

    Thanks!

FYI, Multisite is exactly what WordPress.com is doing 🙂 Just with some mods 😉

Yes, Multisite, thats is – thanks. 🙂

Seems like running a multsite operation is somewhat demanding.
I will need help with this, who can help me get this going?

(I am considering switching to WP Multisite on http://www.posterwall.com currently using vBulleting blog plugin)

You could always use WP Jobs to find someone.

    Ipstenu,

I have now posted this job on WP-Jobs and gotten some replies. Thank for tip.

However I am curious about the “mods” that WordPress.com is using.

Is the WP Multisite built so that end users will be able to sign up a blog on their own instantly (like on WordPress.com). Or is that instant-new-blog-signup-for-everyone a special mod that they have made?

It seems to me like “Multisite” is generally more geared to hosting many WordPress instances, maybe not to provide such an end user service as such.

Any advice will be much appreciated.
